WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
I could give you a very long answer, but essentially, Mindfulness is about being in the present moment – doing what you are doing, being as you are – nothing else.

  1. This sems like something that i would be interested in although I don’t fully understand it yet

    1. Hi Margaret,
      Thanks for your comment. Mindfulness is very much about being in the present moment, doing what you are doing right. It’s about being aware of what is going on around you and what is going on within you. The other side of this is that it’s about not being lost in thoughts about past and future. In the course you would learn a number of formal practices – to help you focus on what is going on now – this helps you to become more mindful in everyday situations. While the whole idea of mindfulness is just to notice things as they are – not trying to change or improve anything – it does seem to have very far-reaching effects in terms of helping mental and physical health, mental focus, energy etc.

    Very interested in your mindfulness course..will you be enacting these courses in Cavan at any stage.

      Thanks for your enquiry. Yes, I hope to run the courses in Cavan – hopefully early next year.
      I am not familiar with what venues are available in Cavan town, but I do a Yoga class in The Station, Belturbet which is a lovely spot.
      Early in 2013 (perhaps even this Autumn) I’d like to do a Day of Mindfulness in Belturbet – this would be a good introduction, then people will have a better idea whether they want to do the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I’ll let you know of any plans…
